P. Jason Kroft, Sarah D. Hansen, LL.M., David Krebs, Christie A. McLeod | Vancouver

( Disponible en anglais seulement )

Miller Thomson LLP invites you to join us for an insightful panelists discussion on the best practices on how to avoid Greenwashing Litigation, Why Boards should include Cybersecurity in ESG Reporting and Indigenous Peoples and Rights-Based Climate Change Litigation.

A variety of topics will be discussed including:

  1. In Canada and abroad, greenwashing actions are being brought against companies alleging they are making false or misleading environmental claims. Hear about recent class actions, inquiries, best practices from other jurisdictions, and where the law in Canada may be headed.
  2. Cybersecurity is an enterprise risk. With increasing regulation surrounding data security and privacy in Canada and elsewhere, and considering privacy is seen by many as a human right, good governance would include protecting company systems and customer and consumer data. It would also include transparency in reporting around how the organization is accomplishing this.
  3. Indigenous Peoples and Rights-Based Climate Change Litigation: there are many cases worldwide grounded in human rights claims brought by Indigenous groups who are adversely affected by climate change due to the disproportionate impact of climate change on their traditional way of life. Indigenous groups are active players in climate change litigation.
