On July 25, 2023, the Honourable Justice Michael Stephens, of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, issued reasons for his decision to certify a class action against the Provincial Health Services Authority. See Massie v Provincial Health Services Authority, 2023 BCSC 1275. The plaintiff in that case, Miranda Massie (“Massie”), brought the class action on behalf of approximately 1,150 patients who had attended the BC Women’s Hospice and Health Centre (“BCWH”) for gynecological surgical procedures.
